Teaching in Indiana
Elementary Education
Our M.A. in Elementary Teaching and Certificate in Transition to Teaching in Elementary Education are approved by the IDOE as leading to an initial elementary generalist teacher license.
You must satisfy additional requirements, including:
- Completing an application via LVIS
- Clearing the required background check
- Passing the required licensure exams:
- Teaching Reading: Elementary (5205)
- Elementary Education Assessment (5006; subtests 5007, 5008) (5006)
- Elementary Education Assessment: Reading and Language Arts & Social Studies (5007)
- Elementary Education Assessment: Mathematics and Science (5008)
- Obtaining valid CPR certification from an IDOE-approved provider
- Completing suicide prevention training
- Completing human trafficking training
- Completing child abuse and neglect training

Secondary Education
Our M.A. in Secondary Teaching and Certificate in Transition to Teaching in Secondary Education are approved by the IDOE as leading to an initial secondary teacher license.
You must satisfy additional requirements, including:
- Completing an application via LVIS
- Clearing the required background check
- Passing the required licensure exams:
- Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT): Grades 7-12 (5624)
- Appropriate content exam (5-12)
- Obtaining valid CPR certification from an IDOE-approved provider
- Completing suicide prevention training
- Completing human trafficking training
- Completing child abuse and neglect training

Special Education
Our Certificate in Transition to Teaching in Special Education is approved by the IDOE as leading to an initial teacher license in P-12 Exceptional Needs: Mild Intervention.
You must satisfy additional requirements, including:
- Completing an application via LVIS
- Clearing the required background check
- Passing the required licensure exams:
- Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT): PreK–12 (5625)
- Teaching Reading: Elementary (5205)
- Special Education: Foundational Knowledge (5355)
- Obtaining valid CPR certification from an IDOE-approved provider
- Completing suicide prevention training
- Completing human trafficking training
- Completing child abuse and neglect training

Leadership and Administration in Indiana
Our M.Ed. in Educational Leadership and Certificate in Principal Preparation programs are approved by the IDOE for the Building Level Administrator License (P-12):
You must satisfy additional requirements, including:
- Holding an Initial, Standard, Provisional, Proficient or Accomplished Practitioner license or School Counselor license
- An experience verification letter signed by employer on letterhead stating at least two years of teaching experience or two years of school counselor experience
- Completing an application via the Licensing Verification and Information System
- Passing the Educational Leadership: Administration and Supervision (5412) content licensure exam
- Obtaining valid CPR certification from an IDOE-approved provider
- Completing suicide prevention training

Teaching English Learners in Indiana
Our Certificate in Teaching English Learners are approved M.Ed. in Teaching English Learners and Certificate in Teaching English Learners are approved by the IDOE for adding the English Learners content area to your existing Indiana teaching license.
In addition to holding an existing Indiana teaching license, other requirements include:
- Successfully completing all approved courses
- Completing an application via LVIS
- Passing the English to Speakers of Other Languages (5362) content licensure exam
