American College of Education VP of Education Solutions Selected to Serve on Health Education Accrediting Board

Dr. Bob Paxton is one of a 15-member board responsible for all aspects of ABHES
American College of Education is excited to share that Vice President of Education Solutions Dr. Bob Paxton has been appointed to serve as a commissioner on the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) as the bureau’s higher education specialist.
ABHES is a private, nonprofit independent accrediting agency that has been evaluating health education programs throughout the U.S. for over 40 years. Recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, it promotes quality health education through systemic, consistent and rigorous evaluation of educational programs with a focus on three key areas: recognition, resources and service.
Dr. Bob Paxton will serve a three-year term on the ABHES Board of Commissioners, starting on July 1, 2024. He brings over 45 years of higher education experience to the board, including experience specifically within accreditation, having previously worked with the Higher Learning Commission, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, the WASC Senior College & University Commission, and other accreditors. As a college leader, he has both started and provided leadership for nursing and allied health programs. He has also provided strategic direction for colleges around the world. Previously in his career, he served as the president of Iowa Central Community College for 13 years.

As the Vice President of Education Solutions at ACE, Dr. Paxton is leading the charge to create continuing education pathways through partnerships between ACE and other higher education institutions. His work is crucial to advancing ACE’s mission of making quality continuing education accessible and affordable to as many adult learners as possible.
