Working together to increase the number of nurse leaders in pivotal decision-making roles

INDIANAPOLIS—American College of Education (ACE) and the Nurses on Boards Coalition (NOBC) are excited to announce a strategic partnership solidifying a unified effort to invite nurses and healthcare professionals to lead healthcare improvement nationwide through boards and commissions.

Nursing programs at ACE are CCNE-accredited online programs that use evidence-based innovation to educate and inspire nursing students. The programs support the combined mission of ACE and the NOBC to grow healthcare leadership.

“We are thrilled to be aligning our mission for the greater good by partnering with the NOBC,” said ACE Nursing Department Chair, Dr. Bette Bogdan, MSN, PHN, RN-BC. “When ACE partners and actively engages in the mission of NOBC, ACE students, faculty, and alumni become a part of something bigger. When nurses and healthcare professionals lead boards, we advance our shared goals to improve health in communities nationwide.”

ACE is committed to participating in the NOBC mission by encouraging its students, faculty and alumni to become voices for healthcare. Both ACE and the NOBC have a shared goal to offer opportunities for nurses and healthcare professionals to have a seat at the table.

Nurses are encouraged to register their current board services or indicate interest in serving on a board on the NOBC website. There’s also an opportunity for nurses to inspire other healthcare professionals by sharing their stories. Additional resources are available here.

Interested nurses can contact NOBC Executive Director, Laurie Benson, BSN, at [email protected].

About the Nurses on Boards Coalition

The Nurses on Boards Coalition was created in response to the 2010 Institute of Medicine (IOM) report, The Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health, that recommended increasing the number of nurse leaders in pivotal decision-making roles on boards and commissions that work to improve the health of everyone in America. The Coalition has achieved the key strategy of 10,000 board seats filled by nurses by 2020, as envisioned by the founders.
