Online college makes fifth straight appearance on list of Best Places to Work in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (May 6, 2021) —American College of Education (ACE) took a top spot on the list of Best Places to Work in Indiana this year, coming in at No. 1 in the medium-sized company category for its commitment to work-life balance, employee development and more.

It’s the fifth consecutive year the Indianapolis-based online college was ranked on the list. Last year, ACE placed No. 4 among large companies and in 2019 it was No. 2 among medium companies. The Indiana Chamber of Commerce selects this elite group of honorees based on comprehensive employee surveys and employer reports. This year’s winners were announced in a ceremony Thursday.

“This is a great day for ACE! Not only did we take the top spot for the first time, but we were recognized for what we hold most important – that our employees have opportunities to grow, to give back to their communities, and to find a balance in their work and personal lives,” said ACE President Dr. Shawntel Landry. “We are proud to be part of the rich education community in Indiana, and I am grateful to our leadership team and our employees for creating an environment in which we can all work and grow.”

ACE prides itself on creating – and consistently adding to – a comprehensive package of progressive employee benefits, including a flexible remote-work policy, 16 hours of paid volunteer time each year, tuition assistance and the new leadership development program put in place last year.

“It is thrilling to be ranked No. 1 because it reflects our drive to create and sustain a positive and thriving work environment,” said KK Byland, vice president of human resources at ACE. “Our employees live our mission to serve, lead and achieve every day, so we take great pride in offering them benefits to fit their lives and families.”

The Indiana Chamber of Commerce determines Best Place to Work rankings via a two-part survey process. The first part of this process, comprising approximately 25 percent, evaluates each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part accounts for approximately 75 percent of the total evaluation and requires employees to complete surveys to measure the employee experience. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process in Indiana, analyzed the data, and determined the final rankings. Learn more.
