American College of Education awards $90,000 to students impacted by COVID-19

INDIANAPOLIS – American College of Education (ACE) has awarded $90,000 in scholarships to assist currently enrolled students who have been impacted by the COVID-19 epidemic, the college announced Tuesday.  

On March 25, ACE established the COVID-19 Financial Hardship Scholarship Program, which provides $1,000 scholarships to 90 students to help cover tuition and fees for the college’s April term. In less than two weeks, scholarships have been awarded to 90 students in 23 states and three countries, pursuing 23 different programs of study. 

“With the rapid spread of COVID-19, we recognized that many of our students were instantly facing new and significant financial stress,” ACE President Shawntel Landry said. “We immediately examined how we could reallocate resources to create and execute the program as rapidly as possible. We put student success and welfare at the forefront of all of our decisions, and we were gratified to be able to help our students during a very disruptive time.” 

As a 100 percent online institution with more than 6,000 active students in 49 states, ACE has a term start every five weeks, with most students taking one class per term. Cost per term for a student taking one class ranges from $770 to $1053, depending on degree level.  

Also in response to COVID-19, ACE this month launched a webinar series, the ACE Digital Toolbox, to provide online resources, tools and expertise at no charge to ACE students, alumni and institutional partners. The first webinar, “Leadership in an Online Environment,” was held April 2. The next webinar “Making Digital Learning Active and Interactive,” will be April 16.
