American College of Education is excited to announce a new addition to its certificate program offerings. ACE is now accepting applications for the Certificate in Texas Educational Leadership program. Students will begin taking courses for the program in the May 20, 2019 term.

The Certificate in Texas Educational Leadership is specifically designed for educators in Texas who wish to become an assistant principal or principal and need the Principal as Instructional Leader (EC-12) certification. Candidates for the program should currently hold a master’s degree, a valid teaching certificate and have at least two years of teaching experience. Visit the program page for more information.

“True to the ACE mission of affordability and accessibility, we developed the Texas Educational Leadership certificate to offer a pathway for those who want to pursue a career in becoming a principal,” says Crystal Neumann, D.B.A., chair of the Leadership and Administration Department at ACE. “Rather than having candidates start from the very beginning, the pathway takes into account previous education and experience to move candidates ahead in their professional calling.”

Students in the 18-credit program will engage in a detailed look at organizational change, resource management and applicable fiscal guidelines at the local, state and federal levels. The program ensures candidates are ready for school leadership with courses on using assessment data, developing teachers and understanding the legal and ethical dimensions to maintaining a school community.

After completing the Texas Educational Leadership Certificate program, candidates will be prepared to pursue the new Principal as Instructional Leader (EC-12) licensure exam.
